HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A robbery suspect who gave chase in the Humble area was arrested in southeast Houston after leading authorities on a 30-minute pursuit.

According to Houston police, the driver may have been tied to a pawn shop robbery that happened Tuesday morning. Officers with the Northside Tactical Unit located a pickup truck and when marked police cars tried to pull it over, the driver took off.

The suspect led police on a half-hour-long pursuit that ended up in southeast Houston. A passenger jumped out near Martin Luther King Boulevard, but the driver didn't stop until he got a flat tire in the 7300 block of Pershing.

For 20 minutes, the driver refused to get out despite police demands and even pleas from an eyewitness.

"I kept on saying 'give up, give up It's not worth your life," explained Sharon, who didn't want to reveal her last name.

Finally, Sharon said, he put both hands out of the window and slowly got out with his hands up. He and his passenger were arrested.

"No accidents involving other vehicles, no injuries. The officers did a good job in a dangerous situation," said HPD Lt. Larry Crowson.

Police say they found two guns inside the truck they were driving.
