HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting at a northwest Houston restaurant that left one suspect shot several times and an officer injured.

The shooting happened outside the restaurant off Tidwell and Hollister. Harris County officials say an off-duty Pct. 7 constable deputy's family owns the eatery and he was there to make a bank run when he was confronted by several would-be robbers. Officials say one of the suspects allegedly hit the deputy several times with a crescent wrench, and that's when the officer opened fire. A suspect was shot several times.

The officer was transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital for treatment. He's been with the department since 2009 and works in the warrant division.

The suspects fled, but a short time later, the injured one arrived at Methodist Hospital in the Willowbrook area.
