Suspect arrested for string of sex assaults
Police say DNA evidence led to the arrest of a man in a string of robberies and sexual assaults.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Charges have been filed against a suspect police say is responsible for at least 10 robberies, including six sexual assaults at eight different apartment complexes in southwest Houston in just the last few months.

Lemann Brown, 27, was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault, robbery with bodily injury and felon in possession of a weapon.

He is believed to be responsible for the incidents at the following locations.

Police say in nearly all of the incidents, Brown approached a female victim in the complex parking lot and, at gunpoint, sexually assaulted her and stole personal belongings. DNA evidence led police to Brown.

"I hate him. I hate him. He hurt me and he hurt many womans (sic). What he did to me, I think he made me stronger than I thought I was," said the woman who was attacked in the April incident on Hayes Rd. We are not identifying her because of the nature of the attack.

She is hoping other women who might have been attacked might see how she came forward, find courage in that, and do the same.

"It's good that he's in jail. At least he's off the street. He's not going to be able to do this to other womans (sic)," she said.

Brown was identified as a suspect only after evidence she saved from her attack matched his DNA, which was already in a state database from a prior felony case.

Investigators say Brown may be responsible for other incidents and ask anyone who may have information on him to call HPD at 713-308-0700 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
