iPad helps police bust suspect
Police say it all started when someone stolen an iPad and some other items from a car

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police say they busted a criminal with the help of an iPad signal.

They say the theft originated in southwest Houston where someone stole an iPad and other personal belongings from a car. The iPad signal and a vehicle description from surveillance video led to a northeast side neighborhood along East Mt. Houston and Suburban.

A wrecker driver spotted the suspect car and called it in to law enforcement. They pulled the car over to find the iPad dumped, but the victim's ID and credit cards, along with IDs and credit cards under several other names, and multiple license plates. Police also found about $3,000 in cash.

The driver is in custody and the Harris County District Attorney's Office will likely file charges of possession of stolen property.

The investigation is not over. Police say they'll take a close look at all the property and see what other crimes they think are tied to this discovery.
