Sleepy driver crashes, hits pole
A sleepy driver knocked out power to an HPD substation last night in northeast Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police say a woman fell asleep at the wheel and hit a utility pole this morning, knocking out electricity to a Houston police substation in northeast Houston.

The crash happened in the 8300 block of Ley Road. The driver flipped the car and the impact chopped the utility pole in two.

No one was hurt in the crash.

In addition to the police substation, we're hearing the crash cut power to the some of the nearby area. The station is running off a generator.

The driver was not ticketed.
