Five arrested in party beating
The 17-year-old victim was savagely assaulted following a party in Fort Bend County

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Fort Bend County Sheriff's investigators arrested seven teens at Travis High School Wednesday in relation to their suspected involvement in an attack on a 17-year-old boy.

The group targeted the victim as he was leaving a house party in the Grand Mission subdivision after 11:30pm November 1. Authorities say he and his girlfriend were leaving after she became uncomfortable while at the party. The incident began in the street outside the party and continued into a neighbor's yard where surveillance cameras were present. Much of the attack was captured on video.

Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls describes the attackers in the video as "savage." He says the attack shows a blatant disregard for the victim's life. The boy was kicked and hit, repeatedly, in the head and body.

The victim, who is African-American, told deputies the attackers told him, "We black people aren't like you black people." Investigators are still trying to figure out what that was meant to imply.

Investigators were able to identify six of those involved. They were arrested Wednesday at Travis High School: Kevin Rugumbira, 18; Prince Jayesimi, 18; Moshood Sodeke, 17; and Larry Omodia, 17. All but Rugumbira posted the $10,000 and were released from jail.

A fifth suspect, who is seen in the video and appears to have participated in the attack, was identified through tips as 19-year-old Charles Foster and he was arrested Friday afternoon at his home in Mission Bend. Authorities say he stole property from the two victims and he faces two counts of robbery, each carrying bonds of $40,000. He also faces a first-degree felony for Organized Commercial Theft out of Washington County, which carries a bond of $30,000.

Two juveniles also were taken into custody earlier this week in connection to the fight.
