BAYTOWN (KTRK) -- Employees at the ExxonMobil Baytown Refinery found themselves under a shelter-in-place Wednesday afternoon after an operational issue.

Officials say there was no need for the community to be alarmed and the order was for precautionary reasons.

Full statement released to Eyewitness News:

The ExxonMobil Baytown Refinery had an operational issue this afternoon resulting in a release. There is no need for the community to shelter in place. Personnel are working expeditiously to ensure the safety of all personnel and resume normal operations. As a precaution, our Industrial Hygiene staff continues to conduct air quality monitoring around the plant and in the community.
