HOUSTON (KTRK) -- More than a dozen teachers and administrators welcomed students at Yes Prep's west campus Wednesday morning.

More staff than normal were outside greeting children and watch for unfamiliar faces. It's been one day since a Yes Prep student says she was sexually assaulted on her way to school.

HPD: Student sexually assaulted while walking to school

Houston police are investigating after a student says she was sexually assaulted on her way to school this morning in southwest Houston.

Parents and students noticed more administrators on the grounds.

"I feel comfortable. Safe, because students can be protected," said Sherlin Can, a sixth grader at Yes Prep.

A spokesperson with Yes Prep Public Schools says the plan is to keep extra security outside before and after school as long as police are investigating.
