HOUSTON (KTRK) -- One person was arrested Friday night after a protest in downtown Houston in support of Michael Brown.

The protest was scheduled during the 95th annual Houston Christmas tree lighting celebration infant of city hall.

Houston police officers sectioned off an area on the south west corner near city hall or the protesters to gather.

"I imagine they're in every city through out the United States. Oh, yeah. It's horrible. It's horrible how the cops are doing people," said one woman who came to see the lighting ceremony and fireworks.

The protesters decided to march around city hall. Many of them heard chanting "black lives matter" and "We are Michael Brown." After the celebration at city hall ended, the protesters were seen taking over the street and walking alongside cars. Officers were heard yelling for them to get on the sidewalk or get arrested.

One person was arrested for interfering with a police officer and evading arrest. Another protester was seen getting into a shouting match with an officer who was pulled away by other fellow officers.

The protesters did not interfere with the city hall celebration and fireworks show.
