President George H.W. Bush remains at Methodist Hospital

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Former President George H.W. Bush remains in the hospital after he experienced shortness of breath on Christmas Eve.

The oldest living president is in Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.

The president's spokesperson says Bush is in high spirits and continues to make progress. He is said to be in the hospital only as a precaution.

The situation is very different from two years ago when the now 90-year-old was in the hospital with a fever that would not go down.

On Christmas Day, some visitors stopped by to see the president including his wife Barbara and his son Neil who lives in Houston.

There's no timetable yet on when he may be released.
