Police: Wrong-way driver kills mother in northeast Harris County

As the accused drunk driver faces felony murder charge, the family of the 29-year-old victim is still trying to come grips with her untimely death
One person was killed in a wrong-way crash in northeast Harris County.

Teodoro Aguilar, 56, is charged with felony murder in the death of Anita Reynard.

According to deputies with Harris County Constable's Precinct 1 office, Aguilar drove the wrong way in the southbound lanes of the Hardy Toll Road, colliding head-on with Reynard's vehicle. It happened overnight Monday near Little York. Court documents indicate that Aguilar was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

"You don't think you're going to get that knock on the door, where somebody says, I'm sorry to inform you that your loved one was killed by a drunk driver," said Reynard's mother, LeeBessya Reynard Bonds. "This wasn't her fault. It's senseless."

Reynard was on her way to work. The 29-year-old was scheduled for a night shift from midnight until noon. She was a mother to two young boys, ages 9 and 2. She was also going to school to become a pharmacy technician.

Her stepfather was the last person to talk to her before she left the house.

"I told her at 11:25, have a good day and I'll see you tomorrow," said Mason Bonds. "Fifteen minutes later she's dead. It doesn't make sense. It doesn't make sense at all."

Aguilar is charged with felony murder because this is his third such offense. His prior DWI convictions date back to 1978 and 1995.

"This is his third time, so eventually he took somebody. He took my child," said Reynard's mother. "I'm going to pray to God that the law will handle him. Finally, maybe he will be put behind bars. To never see the light of day again."

Aguilar's bond is set at $130,000.00.
