Man shot in the chest during attempted robbery in SW Houston park, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Police are investigating after a man was shot in a park early this morning.

Investigators are at Townwood Park on Simswood Drive in southwest Houston, where the victim was shot around 3:45 a.m.

Police tell Eyewitness News another man driving a pickup truck tried to rob the victim, and ended up shooting him in the chest and in the shoulder.

He was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital for surgery, and is expected to survive.

Investigators have been unable to say why the man was in the park in the middle of the night.
