Police are searching for men who robbed a store and killed a clerk in north Houston last night

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A store clerk was shot and killed during a robbery at a north Houston gas station last night. The robbers are now on the run.

Police have surveillance video of the crime and want you to see it.

The robbery happened at the Phillips 66, located at North Main and Airline, just before 9pm last night. The two men burst into the store, shot and killed the clerk while customers hid in fear.

The video shows the two suspects, guns drawn and faces covered running into the store.

The men quickly make their way to the store counter and one jumps behind the counter and starts emptying the cash registers.

The video does not show the clerk being shot.

Police say while the masked men stole money another employee and several customers ran into the store freezer to hide.

It takes less than a minute before the men run off into the night.

HPD's Alexander Vinogradov said, "Officers were dispatched to a shooting call, once they got here they found one male shot one time and he was laying behind the counter, it was the clerk and there were several witnesses inside the store as well."

The clerk was taken to a hospital but did not survive, Houston police describe the suspects as two white men. If you have any information you are urged to call Houston police.
