PHILADELPHIA, PA -- Police say a father shot a man who climbed in through his daughter's bedroom window in northeast Philadelphia.

It happened at 11:30pm Monday inside an apartment in the 2700 block of Axe Factory Road.

Investigators say the suspect climbed in through the window of a rear bedroom, where the man's 20-year-old daughter was staying.

The woman's father told police he heard noises, walked into the room and found the intruder crouched in a corner.

A struggle ensued. It ended when the suspect was shot in the head.

The 32-year-old suspect was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

Police are looking into the possibility that the daughter knew the suspect. Both father and daughter were being questioned by police early Tuesday morning.

There was no immediate word if charges would be filed.
