Pizzeria owner offers pizza for guns
A pizzeria owner says he wants to make the world a safer place, and knows just how to do it.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (KTRK) -- The owner of a pizza shop says he wants to make the streets a safer place, and he knows exactly how to do it.

Donald Dancy is the owner of D&C Pizza in Indianapolis, and says anyone who brings him a gun will receive an extra-large pizza of their choice, no questions asked.

Dancy says gun violence is on the rise, and was even robbed and shot himself several years back.

Now he wants to help bring down violence and feed people at the same time.

"You know, I said, 'Maybe I could have helped them, maybe I could have got that gun off the street,'" Dancy says. "Every one of these crimes, mainly with these kids, I said, 'If I could reach them with a pizza, I could save a life.' I've got that in my heart , in my mind, that I could do it."

Dancy says the deal comes as more volunteers begin patrolling the neighborhood this week.

Officials are working with the city prosecutor's office to make sure what he's doing is legal.

No word yet on how many people have taken up the pizza man on the offer.
