Pasadena man arrested on drugs, weapons charges

PEARLAND, TX -- After a pistol, wig, gloves and a bandana allegedly turned up during a routine traffic stop, Pearland Police likely suspected the driver and his two passengers had been headed for trouble.

According to police reports, an officer noticed a black Chevrolet Malibu commit several traffic violations around 2:35 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 9) and pulled the vehicle over in the 3900 block of Knapp in Pearland. The driver, identified as Pasadena resident Joel Vazquez, 30, was arrested after police discovered he was driving without a valid driver's license, officials said.

Police conducted further investigation at the scene which allegedly uncovered a container with methamphetamine and a .22 caliber Beretta pistol hidden under the front passenger's seat. The officer also reported the front seat passenger, identified as Pasadena resident Jordan Davis Melcher, 30, had a wig and a bandana on his lap and a large backpack on the floorboard between his legs. Inside, the officer reportedly found gloves and another bandana. Melcher was then taken into custody.
