Officials eye Internet posts about 'purge' in Montgomery County

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Montgomery County Sheriff's Office supervisors are monitoring what they suspect is an Internet hoax suggesting a "purge" will be conducted in the area Aug. 29.

Anonymous postings have circulated about a purge coming to The Woodlands, Conroe, New Waverly and Huntsville among other Texas cities.

MCSO Lt. Brady Fitzgerald said nothing criminal has taken place yet, since the messages only mention a purge, which could reference the movie that depicts a period of unpunished lawlessness.
