Two HSCO off-duty deputies engaged in a shootout while working an extra job in uniform.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Two Harris County Sheriff's Office off-duty deputies were working an extra job in uniform at Ostioneria Michoacan Oyster Bar on I-45 south of Richey Road when a confrontation started inside.

Deputies say a male patron carried the argument outside and then fired several rounds.

Deputies say that they exited the building and ordered him to stop, but the suspect fled in his white pickup truck while firing at deputies.

One deputy returned fire hitting the truck, but not the suspect or his male passenger.

The suspect fled, but was stopped a short distance away and arrested. The suspect is being charged, but his passenger is not.

No patrons or deputies were hit during the shootout. The suspect was also not hurt. He faces aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge.

The deputies are now on a minimum five days on admin leave, which is standard.
