Non-profit group hit hard by flood, needs help

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Houston non-profit which helps children and adults with disabilities could use some help of its own. Sandbags sit guard outside Easter Seals off Bissonnet in Bellaire.

For the 3rd time in just a year, they are trying to piece things back together after a flood. Development Director Kelly Klein said the flood damage has led to a drop in enrollment and a loss in funding.

"Why do we do this? 1 in 5 have a disability. 1 in 6 babies is born with a delay," said Klein. "The numbers just keep going up. Someone's got to."

With a quick tour of their school and therapy rooms, you can see the damage first hand. Cabinets sit up on bricks and away from the wall. Fresh drywall is still being installed.
