HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Nearly 100 stolen student calculators from two HISD schools were recovered after a traffic stop last week in northeast Houston, police say.

Precinct 6 spokesperson Tom Entwhistle says a deputy pulled over a speeding car at Green St. near Sydnor and made the discovery during the traffic stop.

Police say the deputy arrested the driver for an invalid license and also noticed two children in the back seat of the car with several backpacks. One of the backpacks was partially open and filled with calculators that looked like they belonged to HISD schools, according to police.

Further investigation revealed 96 TI-84 and TI-83 stolen calculators. Police say they were from Wheatley and Kashmere high schools.

Charlton Frenny, 17, and a juvenile of unknown age were charged with theft. Police say the two suspects are students at those schools.
