Classroom fight caught on camera
An all-out brawl in a high school classroom has some parents upset more wasn't done to stop it

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An all-out brawl in the classroom, punches thrown, hair pulled, and now parents are wondering why no one put a stop to this sooner. On the video you can see the fight, but can't tell if there's a teacher in the classroom at the time or not. But it's raised a lot of questions for one student's mother.

Two students engaged in battle inside a classroom at Davis High School, with the fight dragging on for more than a minute. Eyewitnesses used cell phones to capture the whole thing.

At no time does it appear on the video that any adult attempted to stop the fight. Finally fellow students separated them. Student Priscilla Quiterrez saw the whole thing posted later on YouTube.

"Everybody was doing their own thing," she said. "They don't care."

Monica Flores saw the video online as well. Her daughter was one of the girls in the fight. She's concerned by what she saw.

"It worries me for the children here," Flores said. "Who's protecting them?"

Flores says school district police told her there was a substitute teacher in the class who didn't know where the classroom panic button was located. Further she claims that sub only told the girls to take their beef out into the hallway.

Flores says campus police only arrived after everything was over. Her daughter, she says, is the victim and that she was jumped by a girl who wasn't even in that class. Flores has pulled her daughter from the school since the fight on Monday and demands to know what's going to be done to ensure her safety, if she is to return.

"I've already come two days in a row and I'm asking what's going to happen and I'm getting no answers," she said.

HISD released the following statement: "HISD Police and Davis High School administrators are investigating an altercation between two females that was captured on video Monday afternoon. The teacher in charge of the class quickly notified the front office. School administrators and the HISD campus officer responded immediately. An investigation is underway. Any disciplinary action deemed necessary will be carried out per the HISD Student Code of Conduct."
