Two men disguised as law enforcement officers forced their way into the Ames home of Arthur and Elizabeth Harrison on Sunday, Aug. 31. The incident took place around 4:30 a.m. at the Harrisons' home on FM 2830 South.

It was reported to the Liberty County Sheriff's Office when the couple called the sheriff's office to inquire about why their home was raided by law enforcement.

LCSO Dep. Ranson Martel, Sgt. Joel Davila and Sgt. Investigator Billy Knox responded to the scene where it was quickly determined that whoever the two male subjects were, they were not, in fact, deputies or law enforcement officers as no such activity was in operation by any agency in the county at that particular time. Additionally, the activity the two suspects committed were not in line with proper law enforcement procedures.

"According to Sgt. Davila, Arthur Harrison, age 57. and his wife, Elizabeth, age 61, reported they were in their home preparing for Mr. Harrison to go to work, when the front door was kicked open by two male subjects dressed in black clothing and black masks as well as what appeared to be police type gun belts, boots and gloves," said Capt. Ken DeFoor, spokesperson for the sheriff's office. "It was reported the 'uniforms' had a sheriff's department styled shoulder patch and some type of badges were displayed on the clothing. Both suspects had hand guns and kept yelling 'Liberty County Sheriff's Department, get on the floor.' A pillow case was placed over their heads but they were not bound or tied up. The suspects demanded to know where they kept the money and after they were told, the suspects escaped the scene with a suitcase containing approximately $6,000, a shotgun and a .22 revolver. No vehicle was seen by the Harrisons."
