ROSENBERG, TX (KTRK) -- A manhunt is underway for a suspect who escaped from Texas DPS custody earlier today.

Cortley Deshawn Blackmon was stopped by DPS for speeding in Fort Bend County. A handgun was confiscated from Blackmon during the initial stop. Authorities discovered he was wanted for bail jumping, and failure to appear out of Matagorda County.

Blackmon was arrested by a Texas State Trooper, and transported to the DPS Rosenberg Office. It's unclear if the handcuffed suspect was in the patrol car or standing outside the building, but he managed to takeoff on foot.

Blackmon is about 5' 09" and approximately 165 lbs. He is wearing a black sweater, black shorts, and handcuffed in the front. Blackmon is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information is requested to contact Crime Stoppers 1-800-252-TIPS. Crime Stoppers will pay up to a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to an arrest or indictment of a felony crime.
