HOUSTON (KTRK) -- One man is in the hospital and two suspects are on the run after a home invasion turned violent.

It happened around 3am Monday in the 1000 block of Voight Street near Studewood near the Heights area.

Police say two men broke down the front door of the home and started shooting. A man in his 30s was shot twice, once in the shoulder and once in the neck. He was transported to Ben Taub Hospital.

Two young boys, ages 10 and 12, were also in the home at the time. They were not injured. The children are now in the custody of their mother who was not in the home at the time of the shooting.

Houston homicide detectives are investigating this case. They're trying to get descriptions of the suspects as well as gather more information.
