Man rescued after being swept away by current
The rescue happened at Mercer Arboretum on Wednesday.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A person was rescued after nearly being swept away by water in north Harris County.

Crews got the call at around 2pm of a man being swept away in Cypress Creek near the Mercer Arboretum. By the time they arrived, the man had managed to pull himself to the bank. But before that, there were several scary moments.

"He floated between 300 and 400 yards downstream, probably floated under water," said Lt. Jeremy O'Guinn with the Spring Fire Department. "There's a pretty high current. When we found him, he had already self-extricated himself from the creek and was up on the bank."

We were there as the man was loaded into an ambulance. He nodded when we asked if he was OK.

We're told he suffered a knee injury.
