MINERAL WELLS, TX -- A 22-year-old North Texas man is in jail after allegedly posting on his Facebook page that he had more than a dozen warrants out for his arrest.

Authorities say Eddie Smith's Facebook page on Jan. 20 boasted of having 16 warrants out for his arrest.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that a concerned citizen saw the post and notified authorities.

Detective Nick Wells says they investigated the claim and found Smith was wanted on 14 city warrants.

The warrants ranged from traffic citations to petty theft and totaled more than $1,200 in fines. Wells said Smith was unable to make bond or pay his fines, and so was ordered by a municipal judge to serve 51 days in jail.
