Man leads police on a high-speed chase through southwest Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police say a suspect led them on a high-speed chase Tuesday night through southwest Houston.

The suspect's vehicle was described as a Chevrolet sedan with damage to the front fender and has a headlight out. He drove up and down the Southwest Freeway before exiting and taking side streets.

The driver eventually crashed through the gate of an apartment complex at Rampart and Gulfton, and police arrested him.

Police have not yet said what sparked the chase or why they were in pursuit of the suspect.
