HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A man is charged after police say he choked a police dog that spotted him after a chase on Houston's northwest side Monday.

A human trafficking operation was revealed as a result of the pursuit.

Rigoberto Mondragon is one of 12 suspects who fled from police after a chase on Sowden Road, according to Houston Police. Mondragon hid from officers, and when he was found, he tried to choke the dog that spotted him, court documents state.

But it appears the dog won. Mondragon was arrested by police. He was treated for dog bites and released from the hospital.

Mondragon is charged with interference with a police service animal. His bail is set at $2,000.
