10th grader stabbed at Madison HS
Tracy Clemons reports a 10th grade student at Madison High School was stabbed around 1pm near the school

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- All after school activities have been cancelled at HISD's Madison High School after a student was stabbed near the campus.

The student was stabbed at least twice during a fight on the sidewalk just outside the side gate on White Heather Drive in the Hiram Clarke area. He ran back onto campus to get help and the suspect, along with a group of people he was with ran into the woods. This happened around 1pm.

HISD police say the victim was in 10th grade. He was taken to the hospital with stab wounds to the arm and stomach area.

The school was placed on lockdown in the minutes after while police responded. They set up a perimeter around the wooded area where they believe the suspect ran. After an hour or so of searching, they didn't find him.

Classes resumed, and HISD notified parents of the incident.

HISD Police Chief Robert Mock said, "The school was sheltering in place because we had indications that the suspect did not come onto the campus. He was just outside the campus and didn't come inside. So they were sheltering in place."

Parent Latoya Smith said, "She just asked me to come get her. She didn't give me any information, just said can I come get her. She said school was on lockdown. She didn't give me anymore information. That was it."

The good news here is the student's injuries are not life-threatening. Even though police didn't find the suspect in the woods, they know who they're looking for.
