Lightning blamed for early morning apartment fire near NRG

HOUSTON -- Lightning is being blamed for a fire at an apartment complex near NRG Stadium.

It happened at the Mainridge apartment complex on Westridege near South Main just before 3am.

Firefighter believe a lightning strike started the fire, something residents believe as well.

"There was a whole lot of heat coming through," said resident Rico Freeman. "We woke up and saw what the problem was."

Fortunately we don't have any reports of injuries.
