SPRING, TX (KTRK) -- The family of a Spring woman allegedly shot and killed by her neighbor is now suing the man charged with her murder.

Ana Weed's family is seeking $1 million dollars in damages from Hector Campos. The lawsuit, filed in Harris County Court Tuesday, claimed Campos killed Weed out of revenge because she was helping his estranged wife.

The wrongful death suit claimed Campos' actions were intentional when he allegedly shot her in the chest on January 24. Campos claimed the shooting was self defense. He is currently facing murder charges.

Weed's husband, son and mother are listed as plaintiffs in the lawsuit. The suit is seeking damages for Weed's pain and suffering and mental anguish prior to her death, as well as the family's funeral and burial expenses.
