Katy ISD student accused of making threat against school

KATY, TX (KTRK) -- A Katy ISD student was taken into custody Wednesday for allegedly making a threat against the school.

It happened at Morton Ranch High School at 21000 Franz Road.

Below is a letter school administrators sent home to parents.

Dear Morton Ranch High School Parent/Guardian,

This morning MRHS administration responded to information provided by students and parents who informed us that a threatening comment had been made against our school by one of our students. Campus personnel take information of this nature extremely seriously, and Katy ISD Police were notified immediately.

A thorough search of the student who made the comment and the campus were conducted, and no weapons of any kind were found. The student was taken into custody by Katy ISD Police.

We are extremely proud of our students for being forthcoming with information and their willingness to help us maintain a safe school. We also appreciate information provided by concerned parents.

Safety and security of our students and staff is our primary concern at Morton Ranch High School. Thank you for helping us keep MRHS a safe place for learning.
