Juror in poisoning trial discusses doctor's conviction
Dr. Ana Gonzalez-Angulo was found guilty last week of poisoning her lover; now one of the jurors in the trial explains the decision

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A former cancer doctor is facing 10 years in prison after a jury convicted her of poisoning her lover's coffee with a component of anti-freeze.

The trial lasted nearly a month, but it took jurors less than four hours to convict the renowned MD Anderson breast cancer oncologist of poisoning her lover.

A Harris County jury found doctor Ana Gonzalez-Angulo guilty of felony aggravated assault for spiking Doctor George Blumenschein's coffee with a component of antifreeze.

In an exclusive interview with ABC News, the jury foreman says their decision was tough. They started out at 8-to-4 during initial deliberations. Despite the outcome, juror Rob Rollins says based on the testimony they heard about her shining reputation as a doctor, he would consider trusting her with his own family.

"This may sound really kind of crazy. But by all accounts, she gets out of prison, goes somewhere, sets up and begins treating patients again, I would almost be inclined to take my wife, my daughter, my mother to her," Rollins said.

Doctor Gonzalez-Angulo was sentenced to 10 years in prison and will have to pay a $10,000 fine. Her attorney has implied he plans to appeal.
