THE WOODLANDS, TX (KTRK) -- At least two people are in custody after a high-speed chase and a bizarre getaway that started with a jewelry store robbery in The Woodlands.

Detectives say three people armed with handguns and a shotgun robbed a jewelry store in the Market Street shopping center in the 9500 block of Six Pines Drive. It happened during store hours.

The gunmen then led deputies on a long high-speed chase through Montgomery and Harris counties, crashing into toll signs on the Hardy Toll Road.

The chase eventually ended when they collided with a utility pole at a Sonic on West Mount Houston. Eyewitnesses say two crawled through the drive-thru window to hide inside.

Eyewitness News cameras were rolling when one of the employees ran out of the building yelling, 'Somebody's in there, somebody's in there. He's running out, he's running out!"

When one of the suspects crawled out of the window, an employee yelled, "He's running out the window." Officers chased him and eventually took him into custody across the street.
