Police: 21-year-old arrested with marijuana, AR-15, armor-piercing ammo

NEDERLAND, Texas (KTRK) -- Police have arrested a 21-year-old they say was found with multiple bags of marijuana and several weapons.

Jefferson County narcotics investigators responded to a tip that a resident was selling drugs out of an apartment on the 100 block of 8th Avenue in Nederland.

Elias Vasquez answered the door for authorities, who could smell and plainly see marijuana in the apartment. During a search, investigators uncovered an AR-15 loaded with armor-piercing ammunition, a fully loaded Glock .40 pistol, several bags of marijuana and digital scales.

Vasquez has been arrested and charged with marijuana possession. Authorities continue to investigate the origin of the weapons found in the apartment, which Vasquez has denied belong to him.
