Investigation underway after man dies in police custody in Houston
Investigators are looking into the death of man who died while in police custody in east Houston.

Police are investigating after a man died while in custody in Houston.

Officers were called to the East Houston Regional Medical Center around 8:45pm Thursday because a man was acting erratically outside the emergency room.

When police arrived, they found paramedics attempting to treat the man. He was uncooperative, falling to the ground where he started punching the ground.

EMTs asked police to handcuff the man so they could treat him. The man became calm and after police removed his handcuffs, he was placed in an ambulance as his condition worsened.

CPR was attempted on the man who was pronounced dead at the hospital.

An autopsy is underway to determine the man's cause of death.

Houston police investigators are now looking to see if all the proper procedures were followed.
