Man and woman found dead, their son taken into custody

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A father and mother are dead after police say their son shot them in their sleep, in a home in southwest Houston.

It happened at a house on Tidewater Drive just after 2:00am.

When officers arrived to the scene they found Kenneth Ballinas, 26, waiting on the curb near the driveway. He told police he shot his parents while they were in bed. Officers entered the residence and found his parents in their bedroom. The victims were identified as Oscar E. Ballinas, 55, and 50-year-old Eva A. Ballinas.

Police say they have arrested and charged Ballinas with capital murder. Investigators have not released any motive for the murders.

Investigators say several other adult family members were in the house at time as were two small children. None of them were injured.
