Family members shocked to find dad and daughter dead
Police say the man and his 17-year-old daughter were killed in a murder suicide

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Greenridge town home community was rocked by a gruesome discovery in north Houston Tuesday morning -- a father and his 16-year-old daughter found shot to death. Police say it was murder-suicide, but they haven't said who shot whom.

"It's horrifying hearing about something like that," said neighbor Mario Tapia.

"I just couldn't believe it," Terry DeLeon said. "I didn't know what was going on."

Neighbors reported hearing screams early Tuesday morning when the bodies were discovered.

HPD says family reported Jose Flores, 27, and Jennifer Flores, 16, missing Monday night. Nobody had heard from them since Monday morning. A relative looked around the neighborhood and ended up finding them in an abandoned townhouse two doors down from where they lived.

John Villarreal with HPD said, "Apparently this is a vacant unit, townhome that has been vacant for a while. You can tell by the interior, people have been in and out of that place. So it looks like a lot of people have been through there, done things in there, done who knows what inside that vacant townhome."

Passing by that unit to get to their own, family members could be seen shaking their heads in disbelief. One family friend says the girl's mother is heartbroken.

"Like any mother she's destroyed," said Isabel. "No one knows and wants to be put in her situation."
