Hit-and-run driver kills elderly man in northeast Harris County

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A driver is on the loose, wanted for running over and killing an elderly man in northeast Harris County and taking off.

Deputies say last night Ovidio Espinosa was picking up cans in the 3200 block of Hopper near Foy when a truck hit him and kept going.

Espinosa lived in the neighborhood and was collecting cans.

Investigators say the vehicle that hit Espinosa is a blue or green Ford or Chevy pickup.

The driver -- when found -- could be charged with failure to stop and render aid.

Espinosa died at the scene.
