HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The president of the Houston Firefighters Union has resigned, saying he fears for the safety of his family.

In a resignation letter, Bryan Sky-Eagle says other firefighters have been threatening him. However, he did not offer a reason for the threats.

Sky-Eagle had been at the center of tense negotiations with the city over firefighters' pension and pay.
