Harris Co. deputy involved in accident during traffic stop in Crosby area

A Harris County sheriff's deputy was hit by a car during a traffic stop.

The accident happened along the 2100 block of Crosby Lynchburg Road just after 10 p.m. As the deputy was walking to his cruiser, a car crashed into his unit, sending the cruiser crashing into the deputy.

Authorities confirm that the deputy was able to radio in for help after he was hit. He was immediately taken by Life Flight as a precaution.

According to the Harris Co. Sheriff's Office, the deputy is in stable condition. His injuries were not life threatening, with bruises to his ribs and face. The deputy will be held overnight.

The driver is in custody on suspicion of DWI.
