LOS ANGELES, CA -- Los Angeles police are asking for the public's help in locating the parents or guardians of a 3-year-old girl who was abandoned at a shopping center Saturday.
Parking attendants told police a woman dropped the girl off at the valet parking area around 6pm.
The girl, whose name is Audrey, was dropped off with a car seat. When no one arrived to pick her up, the attendants notified police.
Audrey appears to be in good condition and is now in the care of Department of Children and Family Services.
Police checked the parking lot's surveillance cameras for video of the woman or her car, but the footage was not clear.
"We've been hoping all night that the parents or guardian would come forward and say, 'where's my child?'" said Los Angeles police Lt. Lonnie Tiano. "We're hoping it's just a mix-up and a miscommunication at this point, but I can tell you that I'm much more at ease that we have a 3-year-old in our custody and we're waiting for the parents than the other way and having the parents come here looking for their 3-year-old."
Audrey has long, dark hair. She was wearing a pink shirt and purple pants.
Anyone with information regarding Audrey was urged to call the Wilshire area watch commander at (213) 473-0476.
