HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Huge flames were spotted when a fire ripped through a home in north Harris County.

The homeowner who says he and his wife woke up around 2:30am after hearing a huge boom at the home on Noonday Lane at Lillja Road.

They couple then discovered their detached garage was fully engulfed in flames. The fire then spread to their 5-bedroom, one-story home.

The couple escaped without injury.

Firefighters say there were accelerants inside the garage, specifically propane tanks. They say that could be what caused the "boom" sound heard by the homeowners and may be what caused the fire to spread quickly.

Fire officials are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
