SUGAR LAND, TX (KTRK) -- A 49-year-old Fort Bend County man was killed late Saturday night, when his car collided with a utility pole. The force of the impact sheered away the side of the older model Camero.

Sgt. Jerome Ellis with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's office said a witness saw the collision, but saw no indication the driver was speeding when he apparently lost control of his car.

At this point, Sgt. Ellis said there is no indication alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Power to the area was not affected. Centerpoint Energy was contacted and will inspect the pole.

The name of the deceased driver has not yet been released.
