Family murdered teen wants answers
Anthony Chavez was fatally shot on Wednesday

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The family of a 14-year-old boy gunned down in the streets of north Houston spoke with only Eyewitness News Friday morning.

Anthony Chavez' aunts, Jessica Castillo and Anna Limon, pleaded for the gunman to come forward and turn himself into the Houston Police Department.

"He didn't deserve what you all did to him. He didn't deserve what you did to him," said Castillo with tears in her eyes. "Instead of hiding, turn yourself in. It's all I'm asking. Please. Turn yourself in. It's hard for us to deal with what we're dealing with. To know you're wandering out there with nothing, with no heart. We had a heart for him. We loved him."

They visited the spot off Walthall, where their nephew lost his life Wednesday evening, still in disbelief and shock about the killing.

According to family, Chavez was on his way home from playing basketball at a nearby park when he was shot 5 times and left to die in a ditch.

"No reason. No reason. We don't understand why they did it but whoever did it, they are cowards in my eyes," said Limon, "Can you sleep at night about you did to my nephew? Why would you kill an innocent kid? Why would you kill anybody."

Investigators said they're working with little information. They have no description of a suspect or a getaway car. Anyone with information, call Crimestoppers. 713-222-TIPS.
