HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A northwest Harris County family believes the same burglar hit them multiple times before they even realized it and got cameras to record his latest break-in.

Surveillance video from the home in Inwood Forest near West Mount Houston and Antoine shows the thief practically shopping in the garage as the family slept inside.

"We were here and he was right out in the garage", said homeowner Ken Tatum.

The burglary caught on tape happened after a number of others going all the way back to January. Tatum started noticing lawn and sound equipment, tools and bikes were missing, but nothing ever seemed out of place.

"His method was to steal items and leave the area undisturbed," Tatum said.

Tatum mounted six cameras and finally had some evidence. He described the burglar as "very casual, very at ease, very familiar with what was in my garage and a frequent shopper."

The video is from the latest break-in. It shows the thief poking around for valuables. He settles on a chainsaw, takes it out and leaves the box where he found it. Tatum hopes someone identified the man for law enforcement. Not only did he take about $6,000 worth of stuff, but the husband and father-of-two says he also took his family's sense of security.

"Having my family nervous, concerned for their security, that's the most troubling of all," said Tatum.

The family did report the burglaries to the Harris County Sheriff's Office. If you recognize the man, you're urged to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
