Families in Robindell flooded for second year in a row

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The flood cleanup is frustrating for families rebuilding for the second year in a row along Brays Bayou in southwest Houston.

"That pile of detritus is the inside of my house, four feet up from the floor," Carlos Goenaga said.

It was like reliving a bad memory in their family scrapbook. Less than a year before, they were settling in to the home with their first-born son when the Memorial Day flood destroyed everything they owned.

"The first storm was a once 100 year storm and the second was a once 200 year storm, here comes 300 I guess in about 10 months," Goenaga added.

The Losee family had just moved back in their remodeled home when the second flood hit.

"It's a beautiful community and nobody is going to want to invest in a community that is basically a reservoir for overflow when we have these horrible storms," Christopher Losee said.

Homeowners in the area are looking for the city to help patch up their lives.

"I'm hoping to find out why all this happened," Losee said.

"We're definitely going to remodel, stay I don't know, my wife doesn't want to stay," Goenaga said. "I'm not inclined to stay either."

"I hope that this is an issue Houstonians put as a priority and not down the drain," Losee added.
