Employee gets paid after first check bounces
For $8 an hour Jessica Espinosa cooked, cleaned and sold barbecue at Dickey's restaurants in Katy and Spring.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- For $8 an hour Jessica Espinosa cooked, cleaned and sold barbecue at Dickey's restaurants in Katy and Spring.

"I loved it," Espinoza told ABC13 Investigates, but the love was short-lived.

Jessica was let go after working 99 hours for the Dickey's franchise, but when she got in touch ABC13, she hadn't been paid at all.

It's not that she didn't try.

She received one check from the boss for $613, but it bounced. She showed ABC13 the NSF notice from the bank.

One of the Dickey's franchise locations Espinoza worked for shut down, while the other was still open.

Once ABC13 Investigates started asking questions, the owner and regional manager Gene Garcia told us, "We plan to make good any check she has received or pay anything she is actually owed if the records support it."

"I want my money," Espinoza told ABC13 Investigates.

She now has it, and her last check cleared.

Espinoza is no longer with Dickey's.
