HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A 44-year-old Houston man, who wanted his identity hidden for safety, has survived two armed robberies in the past year.

One, on August 27th, 2013, at the Denny's Restaurant on I-10 and Washington Ave, and the next, Thursday morning, at the IHOP restaurant just across the highway.

"I said, 'It's happening, it's happening. We're being robbed. Run!'"

As three armed men ran inside the IHOP restaurant, he grabbed his boss' hand and led her up a ladder to the roof.

"While we were doing that, they were robbing a man at gunpoint in the dining room. They got $300 from him when they put a gun to the girlfriend's head," he explained. "After that, that they went to the kitchen and put a gun in the cook's face."

Nobody was hurt in the IHOP robbery, and the thieves are still on the run.

But, this man says he's still traumatized from the Denny's robbery. He was shot three times that day, and his 64-year-old boss was killed.

"People who work at these places should be able to work there without being in fear," he said. "I'm still scared right now. I'm on 24 hours right now without sleep and I'm so scared that i'm not going to be going back to work at IHOP."
