Man struck, killed by vehicle on the 610 South Loop
Police say a man has died after being struck by two vehicles on the 610 South Loop.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed while attempting to cross the South Loop in Houston.

The accident happened around 6:30am on the 610 South Loop West at Stella Link, causing a huge backup as morning commuters took to the highway.

Police say it appears a driver who struck the 55-year-old victim drove away from the scene right before a woman in a silver SUV ran over him.

The woman told police she did not see the man lying in the exit lane when she ran over him. She made a U-turn and came back to the scene. Officers say because she came back, she will not be charged.

Several drivers in the area told Eyewitness News they saw the body of a man lying on the freeway.

Officers captured images of the woman's car, but say because there is no damage to the front bumper, it does not appear she was the one who hit him.

There is some question as to whether the man was homeless. That has yet to be determined.
